●さもあるべき as it should be; (only) natural.

●さもあるべきことだ. It ought to be so. | It is (only) natural.

・彼としてはさもあるべきだった. It was only natural for him to do so. | It was only natural that he should have done so.

・さもありそうなことだ. That could well be. | That is very likely.

2 〔いかにも〕 really; truly; evidently.

●さも満足そうに with evident satisfaction

・さもうれしそうに見える look really pleased

・さもおいしそうに with much gusto; with keen relish; with obvious relish

・さも…であるかのように (just) as if [though]….

●彼女はさも貴族の生まれであるかのようにふるまった. She acted (just) as if she were born of noble blood.

・彼はさもそれを知っているようにうなずいた. He nodded as if he knew (about) it.

さもあらばあれ whatever happens, let it happen; come what may; however that (may) be.

●世間はさもあらばあれ, 我は我が道を行くのみ. I don't care about the rest of the world, I just follow my own path.

さもありなん It's probably so. | It makes sense [stands to reason].

●いかにもさもありなんと思う. It makes plenty of sense to me. | I'm not at all surprised.

・彼の嘆きはさもありなんと思う. I think his grief is quite understandable [natural].

・今回の決定は今までの経緯から見てさもありなんと思えるものだ. In the light of the past course of events, this latest decision comes as no surprise.

さもないと otherwise; else; or (else); if not.

●手を挙げろ, さもないと撃つぞ. Hands up, or I('ll) shoot!

・もっと勉強しろ, さもないと落第するぞ. Study harder; if you don't, you'll fail in the examination.

さもなくば otherwise; else; or (else); if not.

●今行くか, さもなくば明日行くか, どちらかだ. You go now, or else you go tomorrow―it's one or the other.

・金を出せ, さもなくばこの子の命はないものと思え. Hand over the money, otherwise this kid dies.

さもなければ otherwise; else; or (else); if not.

●ご本人様が一番ですが, さもなければだれか代理の方でも結構です. It would be best if he came in person, but if not then somebody representing him would be acceptable.

・クラスの人数を減らすか, さもなければ教師を増やして担任を複数にしてほしい. I would like to have class sizes reduced, or else have the number of teachers increased and allow for more than one classroom teacher per class.

さも似たり be just like [exactly like, a spitting image of] 《her mother》.

●その老人の顔はえびす様にさも似たり. The old man's face is just like that of old Ebisu.
